Strategic Defense Project Leader

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Melbourne, Australia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing strategically important defense construction projects from concept to completion.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage project tasks independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Deliver projects in accordance with contractual requirements using Currie & Brown's guidelines and project management toolkit
- Plan and deliver construction projects from concept to completion
- Prepare or assist in preparing site assessments, due diligence reports, cost reports, project control group reports, construction reports, and completion reports
- Manage internal and external project stakeholders, consultants, and contractors
- Manage design development, coordination, reviews, and approvals during planning and construction phases
- Undertake procurement management, including reviewing trade tender packages
- Appoint and manage contractors while maintaining probity requirements
- Handle contract administration, including evaluating progress claims, variations, extensions of time, and completing documentation
- Monitor and manage completion activities, including commissioning, handover, take-over, and defects
- Prepare project programs and monitor projects against those programs developed by contractors and approved by clients
- Monitor project costs against approved budgets
- Monitor and report on actual performance compared to program expectations
- Liaise with local authorities as required to ensure works are authorized as the project progresses
- Ensure monitoring, reporting, and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Implement quality assurance systems to ensure the production of high-quality work in design, construction, and administration
- Continuously seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships
Requirements:
- Degree in a construction or engineering-related discipline such as construction management, M&E/civil engineering, architecture, or project management
- A minimum of seven years' experience working on defense projects
- Current security clearance
- Proficient in MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and Project
- Experience in advisory services (risk management, workshop facilitation) desirable
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
