Job Title: Sterilization Expert

The role of Sterilization Expert is crucial in maintaining patient safety and ensuring the efficient operation of Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD).

The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding high standards in sterilization and disinfection processes, including routine loading, cleaning, packing, sterilization, and storage of reusable instruments.

The primary goal of this position is to provide sterile and thermally disinfected medical and surgical equipment to all areas for use in patient care in accordance with current Australian Standards and procedures developed by SSD Management.

• Provide sterile and thermally disinfected medical and surgical equipment to clinical areas in accordance with current Australian Standards and SSD procedures.
• Maintain high standards in sterilization and disinfection processes, including routine loading, cleaning, packing, sterilization, and storage of reusable instruments.
• Ensure compliance with AS5369:2023 and Infection Control Guidelines; participate in annual mandatory training and in-services.
• Collaborate within the Sterilizing Services team to support patient care and safety.

• Certificate in Sterilization technology with prior experience in a Sterilizing Services department.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to listen and take direction.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and work effectively within a team.
• Understanding of Infection Prevention and Control guidelines, National Sterilization standards and WH&S requirements.
• Ability to meet all physical requirements as described in the position description.
