Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Candidate Name, an Advanced Surface Artist to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic. This is an exciting opportunity for you to utilize your skills and experience in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, to create stunning visual effects for film production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and collaboratively with our production team to execute the desired look of complex CG models, including creatures and hard surface models, such as ships, vehicles, and environments.
  • Determine design solutions, provide feedback, and participate in dailies on a regular basis.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level artists.
  • Meet deadlines and produce high-quality work while maintaining a consistent level of productivity.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of professional VFX experience and a college-level diploma or higher in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography; or five years of relevant experience.
  • A demo reel and portfolio showcasing understanding and experience in painting, illustration, or design.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with film production and computer graphics.
  • Proficiency in Maya, Mari, Zbrush, Photoshop, and UV unwrapping tools.
  • Ability to navigate complex pipelines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Modeling skills.
  • Katana/Look Dev knowledge.

Benefits:

Industrial Light & Magic offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for growth and development.
