Geriatric Medicine Specialist

An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated individual to join our team as an Advanced Trainee in Geriatric Medicine. As a key member of our Aged and Extended Care Services, you will have the opportunity to work with a Professorial geriatric medicine service linked to the University of Adelaide.
The role is based at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a leading acute referral, teaching, and research centre with a research precinct, the Basil Hetzel Institute. A $314 million redevelopment is currently underway, which will see state-of-the-art general rehabilitation inpatient facilities at this campus, complementing existing day rehabilitation facilities.
As a Geriatric Medicine Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the care of patients allocated to the current department in consultation with Registrars, Consultants, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals. You will maintain a high standard of patient care for inpatients and outpatients and provide an effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care at the change of daily shifts and the change of a clinical attachment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing patient care in consultation with Registrars, Consultants, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals
- Maintaining a high standard of patient care for inpatients and outpatients
- Providing effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care
- Contributing to continuous quality improvement and education activities
We are looking for a team player who can operate effectively as part of a team or individually. You will demonstrate competency in routine and common procedural ward-based skills, possess high-level skills in negotiation and communication, and exhibit the ability to display genuine empathy for patients and their relatives and family.
