Job Description

The Major Construction Supervisor role involves overseeing major construction and maintenance works for water and wastewater distribution and headwork facilities. This dedicated position requires planning, supervising, and leading a team to ensure optimal performance.


  • Lead and manage the operations of a team within Council to enable Council to function at an optimal level.
  • Exhibit leadership behaviours by showing initiative, taking responsibility for self and group actions and referring issues of ethics and probity.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying improvements to processes and practices and supporting change.

This role oversees a team of 8 direct reports and plays a key role in maintaining customer service standards, environmental protection, workplace safety and support the day-today operation for the team.


Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support a team to enable Council to function at an optimal level.
  • Provide advice in relation to major sewer repairs to the Construction Coordinator.
  • Actively promote involvement of staff in team meetings.
  • Ensure adequate level and distribution of staffing is maintained to meet operational requirements.

Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.


About You / Qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Water Industry or relevant trade qualifications.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Current NSW SafeWork First Aid Certificate.
  • Current National WHS Construction Card (SafeWork).
  • Recent relevant experience in water and/or wastewater infrastructure work.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project or similar software.

This role requires a commitment to undertaking relevant workplace training and a willingness to work on call.


A demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service and follow defined WHS policies and procedures is also essential.
