Job Overview

We provide a safe and supportive environment for young people who can no longer live at home due to trauma, abuse, neglect or family concerns.

The Residential Care Worker will work collaboratively with the wider team to help vulnerable children and youth achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a culture of safety, acceptance and security at all times for children, young people and staff
  • Protect the rights and interests of the children and young people at all times
  • Address the therapeutic needs of each child or young person with the Residential Care team or wider OOHC team
  • Contribute to day-to-day operations, including household duties
  • Provide high quality physical and emotional care for children/young people in residential care, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
  • Support the children and young people to maintain important links with their family of origin, friendship networks and the local community
  • Develop and participate in recreational activities for and with the children/young people
  • Be responsible for the clear record and communication of all relevant information about the children/young people to the appropriate people or teams
  • Ensure comprehensive handovers are given to incoming or relieving workers
  • Adhere to all plans developed for the house and children/young people

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 months experience in Youth Support work
  • Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Victorian driver's license
  • Current Working with Children Card
  • Current NDIS Worker Check
  • Willingness to undertake National Police Check
