Precedents Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Precedents Manager to join our team. This role involves managing the delivery of high-quality legal precedents, drafting and formatting documents, and providing word processing support.

  • Promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration among team members
  • Liaising with practice groups to determine their precedent requirements and automation needs
  • Managing the development and maintenance of legal precedents, including approval and publication
  • Assigning tasks to technicians and overseeing their work
  • Administering the firm's precedent development incentive scheme
  • Providing induction training for new partners, graduates, and summer clerks on precedents and knowledge resources
Required Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • At least five years' experience in legal practice, preferably with a focus on litigation/dispute resolution
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent legal drafting skills and an interest in clear written communication
  • Solid Microsoft Word skills and experience using other Microsoft Office products in a legal environment
  • Experience using document automation software and I-Deal Docs
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills, able to handle multiple tasks subject to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to successfully liaise and interact with partners, senior managers, and other legal and support staff at all levels
  • A high degree of initiative and the ability to work autonomously
  • An interest in developing and implementing new and creative ways to share knowledge
