The Cloud movement at CommBank is going strong and continues to grow. We're looking for out of the box thinkers who want to use technology to work on real-world problems that have the potential to change the lives of our 17 million+ customers. The successful applicant will join a team tasked to manage the Kafka Event Streaming Platforms (Public and Private Cloud) for the bank. You will drive the automation and continuous improvement of the services through a DevSecOps model and ensure the platform is running 24*7.

Platform Engineers are accountable for building and operating the platform. The responsibilities of this role include:

• Helping to hire and mentor Engineering talents.

• Fostering a world class Engineering Culture by collaborating and sharing knowledge with each other.

• Planning, designing, building and operating large platforms that other engineers in the bank use day to day.

• Contributing to engineering roadmaps to delivery great outcomes.

We're interested in hearing from people who:

Note: We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.

• Have experience building platforms that can scale.

• Possesses hands-on technical experience across AWS, designing, coding/scripting, operating platforms.

• Is familiar with various scripting/programming languages (mainly for code reviews) such as; Java, Python

• Is experienced with CI/CD tools such as: version control systems, GHA, Jenkins, IaC frameworks.

• Have experienced with Event/Data Streaming technology (e.g. Apache Kafka, AWS MSK/Kinesis…)

• Passionate about providing technical expertise in the development and delivery of quality applications.

• Participate in on-call roster.

• Have very good communication skills (verbal and written).

• Have a growth mindset and can drive continuous improvements.
