Position Overview: The ICT Desktop Engineer at Silverlining Consulting plays a crucial role in maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability. This position involves a blend of technical expertise, from supporting end-user desktop environments to contributing to the maintenance and optimization of the network infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, an ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, peripherals, and software within the organization to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and associated systems promptly.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of system documentation, including user guides, installation procedures, and support manuals.
• Contribute to the monitoring and analysis of system performance, recommending improvements to ensure efficient operation.
• Support network infrastructure projects, including assisting with the integration and configuration of networked software and hardware.
• Engage in the research, evaluation, and deployment of new desktop technologies and applications to enhance business operations.
• Provide end-user training and support, ensuring staff can effectively utilize technology and productivity tools.
• Participate in the management of software licenses, hardware inventories, and documentation of IT assets.
• Assist in ensuring network and data security, including participating in the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with vendors and external support teams to resolve equipment and software issues.
• Support the setup and management of user accounts, including email, network access, and application settings.
• Participate in after-hours support and emergency response as required.
• Work collaboratively with the IT team to support IT projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and migrations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and developments in IT support and technology solutions.
Qualifications and Experience:
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related field.
• Proven experience in desktop support, IT support, or a similar role within an ICT environment.
• Strong understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, and peripheral devices.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows environments, Active Directory, and Office 365 administration.
• Knowledge of network fundamentals and support experience, including basic troubleshooting of network issues.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
