Facilities Operations Centre (FOC) Engineer, AWS

We're the people who keep the cloud running. Our team owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting all data centres and servers that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation.

About the Role

You'll join a diverse team collaborating with software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.

The Team

The Data Centre Global Engineering Operations organisation is looking for an individual with proven leadership skills to help bring to fruition a newly developed Facilities Operations Centre (FOC). This role will serve as a central monitoring location for the facility electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring the customer experience is optimal and gratifying.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the data centre Amazon facilities infrastructure platform
  • Serve as a Point of Contact for internal and external teams
  • Assist with the development of communication and escalation protocols
  • Contribute to outage post mortem analysis
  • Ensure records are updated in a timely manner
  • Assist with coordination and communication during emergency recovery efforts
  • Assist with the development of tools that enhance team performance
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of Electrical or Mechanical Experience
  • 1+ years of experience working with Building and/or Electrical Platform Management Systems
  • 2+ Years' Experience in Data Centre Engineering/ Operations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years' experience working in a large-scale data centre and 3+ years' experience in a NOC (Network Operations Centre) or similar
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Ability to maintain SLAs through proactive issue detection and reporting tools and ability to follow and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries, root cause analysis and complex problem solving skills
