Combat Systems Undersea Warfare/Electronics Warfare Systems Technician

Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement (CSI-IPT CCA). The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.

The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.

The roles

Working within the CSI-IPT Test and Commissioning (T&C) Team, the Combat Systems Undersea Warfare (USW)/ Electronics Warfare Systems (EWS) Technician will work to ensure implementation and verification of the DDG Combat System.

Further, the successful candidate will:

- Provide technical support and maintenance for Hobart Class USW and EWS CS Equipment
- Contribute to assuring USW and EWS elements are activated, operational, available and configured
- Perform a wide range of activities supporting the operation, maintenance and configuration of the USW & EWS components
- Identify and resolve equipment and documentation discrepancies
- Assist test performance activities with collection and analysis of system performance data and in the resolution of radar logistics issues
- Utilise test equipment, tools, optical aids and other techniques during troubleshooting, maintenance and equipment repair process
- Ensure compliance with maintenance management process including authorisation, conduct, recording and verification tasks

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9-day fortnight.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

- Certificate III or above in a relevant discipline (e.g. electronics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science/engineering) and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Conducting fault detection/fault isolation procedures and perform maintenance/repair
- Supporting preventative and demand maintenance techniques and their practical application to complex problems
- Technical aptitude and willingness to develop technical competency/mastery USW & EWS systems
- Researching technical manuals, specifications and drawings
- Adapting current skills, knowledge and experience to evolving technology
- Knowledge of operational and maintenance aspects of combat management system(s) (desirable)
- Clear verbal and writing communication
- A strong ability to adapt and maintain a flexible approach to changing needs or priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
- Investigating issues methodologically with a focus on drawing out quality solutions
- Willingness to travel overseas and interstate to support training requirements.
