About the role

We’re currently seeking several dedicated Orderlies to join our team. These maximum-term positions are available for an immediate start and will run through to 30 June 2026. You’ll be working part‑time (24 hours per week) in a vital role that supports the smooth, day‑to‑day operations of our hospital. Flexibility is key, as this position requires availability across a 24/7 rotating roster.

Mater Bundaberg is a 59‑bed facility comprising both surgical and medical/rehabilitation units. Our Surgical Ward manages a diverse range of cases, including orthopaedics, gynaecology, general surgery, and ENT procedures. Our Medical/Rehabilitation Ward supports patients across the acute and sub‑acute spectrum, providing comprehensive care tailored to individual recovery needs.

Responsibilities

- Safely transfer, transport, and assist patients with dignity and respect.

- Position patients in beds, wheelchairs, and trolleys following safe handling practices.

- Efficiently relocate equipment, furniture, and essential items between departments.

- Courier medications, specimens, and documentation as required.

- Assist with cleaning, linen organisation, restocking, and waste management.

- Contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment with open communication and respect.

- Deliver service excellence and contribute to customer satisfaction at every touchpoint.

About you

You’re a compassionate, reliable team player with a commitment to providing excellent patient support and maintaining a safe, clean healthcare environment. You hold a current CPR certificate and ideally a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or equivalent).

Qualifications

- Experience in a similar healthcare or patient support role (desirable).

- Strong communication skills and respect for confidentiality.

- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

- Understanding of (or willingness to learn) infection control, cleaning, and waste management practices.

- Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft applications.
