Network and Security Engineer

This role aims to provide support with the provisioning, deployment, configuration, and administration of many different pieces of the network and security-related products and solutions. These include firewalls, routers, switches, network monitoring tools, and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). This role will also provide the opportunity to perform network-based security risk assessments and occasionally help design new network and security solutions.

Responsibilities

- Provide support with the configuration of a range of equipment, including Cisco, FortiGate, and Meraki.
- Provide support with the commissioning of new sites.
- Provide support to the Service Desk in analysing and solving technical problems and finding mitigations to prevent a recurrence.
- Assist with Moves, Adds and Changes (MACs); Perform ad-hoc network programming or software upgrades.
- Liaise with the customer and internal teams to resolve problems or to study new or alternative offerings.
- Assist with developing and maintaining technical documentation on the design, implementation and reporting regularly.

Required Experience

- 5+ years of network and security experience.
- Proven experience with technologies such as (but not limited to) Firewalls, Routing & Switching.
- Understanding of network security technologies such as NGFW, IPSec, SSL/TLS, NAT, IDS/IPS.
- Hands-on experience in formulating network design artefacts.
- A good understanding or experience with SD-WAN and SASE technologies and solutions.
- Supporting cloud infrastructure such as Azure and AWS.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal communications skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Qualifications and certifications in IT, CCNA, CCNP Enterprise, CCNA Security and/or NSE4 in Fortinet are desirable or, in place of a degree, 5+ years of relevant experience.
