Crafty Apes and our talented team members have received recognition for outstanding contributions to feature films, and we are looking for a mid- level Digital Matte Painter to join our team in Sydney. The perfect candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and embraces individuality and creativity.

Responsibilities:

Create high-resolution digital matte paintings, sky replacements, and environment extensions based on concepts and plates.

Collaborate with the VFX team to ensure a cohesive and final look for all shots.

Work within a production pipeline, managing your time effectively to meet deadlines.

Incorporate feedback from supervisors and senior artists to refine and improve your work.

Maintain a strong understanding of color, light, and perspective to ensure seamless integration of your work with live-action footage.

Qualifications:

2-4 years of experience as a digital matte painter or a similar role in a professional VFX environment.

Proficiency in Photoshop and a good working knowledge of 3D software

A strong portfolio showcasing a range of photo-realistic matte paintings and environments.

Solid understanding of the VFX pipeline and how matte painting integrates with other departments like compositing and lighting.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
