IT Project Manager

As a member of the IT Project Management Office, the IT Project Manager is responsible for supporting the roadmap and delivery of a range of IT initiatives, projects, and associated benefits, across Saab's business areas.

The IT Project Manager will provide effective leadership and end-to-end management of the project lifecycle, ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with requirements and approved policies, standards, and procedures. This role is critical in the day-to-day success of the project, ensuring agreed outcomes are achieved in the areas of cost, schedule, scope, quality, benefits realisation, and customer satisfaction.

In addition, the IT Project Manager role will be responsible for the maintenance of effective Resource planning across the IT group, including communication of resource needs with the company through the company's resource management tool.

Specific Accountabilities

1. Definition, management, and ownership of the scope of work, including schedule, cost and quality outcomes for the project.
2. Provide leadership, direction and delegation to the project team, as required.
3. Development of the project approach to achieve project and business outcomes as per Project Directive, including identification of opportunity in order to maximise outcomes.
4. Prepare, monitor and revise project plans, estimates, and schedules for the project to meet the objectives set by the Project Directive and associated Business Case.
5. Ensure project inter-dependencies are agreed, managed and delivered between the projects, business areas, and external vendors, resolving technical and/or resource contention.
6. Assess and manage risk related to the project.
7. Lead and present status at Steering Committee Meetings, Gate Reviews, Internal Customer Reviews and Status Meetings.
8. Manage project variations and scope change.
9. Develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.
10. Ensure effective business change management of assigned projects.
11. Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, Health & safety, Bullying, Harassment, Violence and Aggression, and duty of care and the quality management system.
12. Treat everyone with respect, communicate regularly and openly with manager and team, and ensure all decisions are made with fairness in mind.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

1. At least 5 years' experience in managing Information Technology (IT) projects.
2. Demonstrated understanding of best practice Project Management.
3. Demonstrated ability in the project management and leadership of IT projects.
4. Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of IT projects.
5. Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies (Highly Desirable).
6. Demonstrated ability to lead staff within a team environment and to foster cooperation within and between teams.
7. Experience in producing and reviewing project documentation.
8. Demonstrated scheduling and planning skills.
9. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
10. Well-developed ability to work with others in a team environment.
11. Well-developed ability to provide leadership.
12. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions.

Educational Qualifications and Professional Memberships

1. Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or in a Business discipline (Desirable).
2. Post-Graduate Qualifications in Project Management (Desirable).
3. Project Management Certification through AIPM or other equivalent institution (Desirable).
