JLT Risk Solutions Pty Ltd (a business of Marsh & McLennan Companies) is the appointed Scheme Manager to the Local Government Association Mutual Liability Scheme (LGAMLS). The LGAMLS provides the broadest and most extensive civil liability protection to its Members which are Local Government Councils and prescribed bodies. As the Scheme Manager, JLT Risk Solutions manages Claims, provides risk advice, and delivers risk management services for all Local Government in South Australia.

JLT Risk Solutions has managed the LGAMLS for over 30 years and is committed to achieving excellence in liability claims management and risk advice to the Local Government sector. It is widely recognised as one of the most effective and successful discretionary mutual funds in Australia, consistently delivering value for money risk protection and services to its members.

As a Senior Liability Claims Advisor you will need to hold exceptional communication skills as you will be required to engage with senior stakeholders within the Local Government.

In this role, you will have an integral role in the evolution of the claims team. Building technical skill sets which allows team members to explore higher levels of claim complexity. It is important that you show integrity and that you lead by example as well as foster the growth of others.

You will also be a trusted resource that Members will refer to when seeking advice on the complex Local Government claims. As a dedicated team member, you will be a team player committed to providing clients with first class service.

This role will be based in Adelaide.

We will count on you to:

- Lead by example in the delivery of liability claims management and risk advice to the Local Government sector.
- Deliver technical advice to the Claims team.
- Develop the technical skill set of Claims team, and foster growth.
- Manage sensitive, political, and high-risk claims – with the support of the LGAMLS Legal Panel and attending matters at Court.
- Collaborate with Liability Risk Advisor(s) identifying claims trends to establish proactive risk management programs/guidance that have a sector impact.
- Support Scheme Manager in complying with delivery of LGAMLS KPI's and other key objectives as set out in the LGSA Mutual Board Strategy.
- Produce and deliver quarterly LGA SA Mutual Board reports and any other Board related documentation.
- Attend and deliver education to internal staff and Member forums.

What you need to have:

- Experience in working with Local Government across Risk, Governance and strategy would be an advantage.
- Bachelor of Law.
- 3+ years private practice experience.
- Exceptional relationship building, communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders and clients, you will be required to communicate with senior stakeholders within the Local Government as well as Members.
- Ability to travel to metropolitan and regional locations as required.
- A valid driver license.
