CRVCID No.667415 About the Roles The four positions available range across multiple clinical areas in our weekend services: - Respiratory Acute/ICU (full day shift) - Respiratory Subacute (full day shift) - Rehabilitation (half day shift) As a Senior Physiotherapist working in one of these varied and rewarding roles, you will apply your advanced clinical practice skills to provide comprehensive care and physiotherapy treatments to a diverse range of inpatients at Perth Children’s Hospital. In the Acute Respiratory/ICU role, you will work within the paediatric intensive care and high-dependency units with young patients facing acute and deteriorating conditions, utilising your specialised skills in intubation and ventilation. In the Subacute Respiratory role, you will also provide respiratory physiotherapy for patients with conditions such as cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis, employing manual techniques and specialised devices to enhance lung ventilation and clear secretions. In the Orthopaedics/Surgical and Rehabilitation shifts, your expertise will be crucial in orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation, where you will focus on progressing the patient to enable early discharge. Your key responsibilities will include: - Providing and coordinating specialised physiotherapy services to paediatric patients, including assessment, intervention, and evaluation at an advanced level, across a range of respiratory, neurological, and musculoskeletal presentations. - Prioritising and coordinating your caseload, actively participating in clinical reviews, and completing clinical documentation and necessary administrative tasks. - Coordinating and supervising P1 physiotherapists, assigning physiotherapy interventions and tasks and obtaining feedback on patient progress and clinical issues. - Educating families, carers, and other staff in understanding the nature of the patient’s mobility and/or functional challenges and organising discharge summaries, completing outpatient referrals as needed. A tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy and eligibility for registration by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia is required for this role. About our Team Located at Perth Children’s Hospital, our Physiotherapy Department comprises over 80 dedicated professionals and provides a comprehensive state-wide service to children aged 0-16 years including inpatient and outpatient services, with transition to adult care for those over 16 years. Our team provides assessments, advice, education, and a range of interventions for babies through to young people including early intervention for development concerns, neurology, rehabilitation, respiratory, musculoskeletal, oncology, bladder or bowel issues and other complex illnesses. We work closely with multidisciplinary teams across medical, allied health and nursing teams to provide assessment, advice, and education to a diverse group of patients and their families, enabling carers to understand and be part of their child’s health journey.
