Role: As the key Studio M contact, this full-time Electrical & Home Décor Consultant guides customers through the complete home personalisation journey — encompassing electrical selections (lighting, power, data, security, automation) and home décor choices (exterior/interior colours, joinery, finishes, fittings). The Consultant ensures selections align with customer lifestyle, style preferences, budget, developer guidelines, and construction requirements, while contributing to sales growth and enhancing customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be based in the Newcastle Studio but will be frequently required to travel to the Sydney Studio to complete appointments.

Responsibilities

- Prepare for appointments by reviewing plans, inclusions, developer guidelines, and promotional offers
- Conduct consultations addressing both electrical and home decor needs
- Build rapport and trust with a diverse customer base; uncover lifestyle priorities and style preferences
- Demonstrate and recommend upgrades based on customer needs, budget and design goals
- Explain the process and set expectations for selections, documentation, and next steps
- Coordinate specialist appointments (e.g. Flooring, Tiles) as needed
- Assist customers in selecting: Electrical: Lighting, power points, data, security, home automation; Decor: Exterior/Interior colours, finishes, benchtops, cabinetry
- Record all selections accurately in relevant systems
- Ensure selections comply with developer requirements, company policies, and construction feasibility
- Create and mark up electrical plans and selection documents for operations and estimating teams
- Ensure all variations are documented, priced, signed, and submitted within required KPI timeframes
- Promote and upsell electrical and decor upgrades where appropriate, supporting revenue targets
- Introduce and transition customers to additional retail services offered within Studio M
- Maintain awareness of sales promotions and product launches to support strategic sales efforts
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Metricon home designs and specifications, developer and estate guidelines, and electrical regulations and technologies
- Maintain Click Home, Clipspec, and related systems with up-to-date appointment details, selection records, and variations

Qualifications

- Diploma in Interior Design (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Certifications or training in electrical planning highly regarded
- 3+ years in customer service or consultative sales (retail, design, electrical or construction industry)
- Strong experience in interior design, electrical layouts, or home building preferred
- Proven success meeting sales targets and managing high-value customer experiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Clipspec planning software (advantage)
- Experience interpreting architectural and electrical plans
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organised, and proactive
- Creative problem solver with a design eye and technical aptitude
- Confident in leading consultations and managing multiple projects
- Positive attitude
