Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world‑class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non‑government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
This role is vital to the maintenance and upkeep of departmental schools. You will perform a range of tasks relating to the routine maintenance and upkeep of a Departmental School/grounds, including assist with the set up and removal of furniture and equipment for school activities, identify and report maintenance and safety issues, receive, store and distribute supplies, monitor equipment and report faults.
Responsibilities
- Grounds maintenance and minor general maintenance across the school.
- Prepare the school for events and activities across the school year.
- Plan and prioritise tasks to maintain a property with minimal supervision.
- Identify and manage potential hazards requiring maintenance.
- Work independently and show initiative, adapting to changing workload and seasonal demands.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Good planning and prioritising skills.
- Good communication skills to work effectively with others.
- Ability to work independently and show initiative.
- Relevant experience in grounds or general maintenance preferred.
Salary
Hourly rate: $22.81 (junior) – $25.67 after 12 months or at age 20 – $33.50 adult rate. The total salary package will include employer's contribution to superannuation and leave loading.
Working Hours
Part‑time, 0.5FTE. Hours spread across Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with the incumbent working on Tuesdays.
