Acute Pain - Clinical Nurse Specialist 2
An opportunity is available at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai hospital to become part of the senior leadership clinical group in the expertise of pain. This is a whole of hospital position working with patients and carers from all areas in collaboration with the anaesthetists and other multi-disciplinary teams. The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position is to provide senior nursing clinical leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice and service delivery within a nursing unit, team or service. The CNS employs advanced clinical skills and exercises extended autonomy of decision making working closely with managers and other senior clinicians.

Where you’ll be working: Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, Acute Pain Services. This position is a whole of hospital service.
What you’ll be doing: You will provide direct care, advocacy and education to patients and their carers. Assessment and monitoring of patient referrals with the anaesthetic team and independently within scope during patient rounding. Documentation and data collection is included. As the expert in this area education sessions to new and novice staff is part of the portfolio.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nurse Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrated skills in computer use and applications such as Windows, word processing and database.
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
