About the opportunity:

The SATCOM Supervisor, Maintenance Management is responsible and accountable for the delivery of maintenance services, supervision, and technical administration requirements as defined in the organisation's Maintenance Management Plan (MMP). The Maintenance Supervisor has direct responsibility and accountability for making technical integrity decisions within their allocated level of Technical Authority and assists the Senior Maintenance Manager by providing advice on technical integrity issues. Provides direct customer support, including customer site visits.

Responsibilities of the role include the following:

- Managing the day-to-day work direction for a team of technicians delivering maintenance services IAW program requirements.
- Communicate compliance requirements for Work Health and Safety, plant, and hazardous chemical requirements for technical maintenance activities.
- Maintaining a record of technical maintenance personnel qualifications, training, experience and competency standards.
- Manage professional development of personnel within team.
- Ensuring technical maintenance is conducted IAW materiel-specific instructions, and technical maintenance is correctly recorded and the records maintained.
- Utilizing a technical support network to the extent required to meet maintenance responsibilities.
- Ensuring technical staff are competent and qualified to undertake assigned technical functions.
- Managing and assigning Technical Authority (TA) for individuals against their position, employment and /or task requirements.
- Periodic maintenance reporting to supported customers.
- Providing technical advice to the Senior Maintenance Manager and functional leads; and
- Advising the Senior Maintenance Manager of any difficulties in complying with required policy or guidance, including appropriate recommendations for improvement

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

- Minimum AQF level 4/Certificate IV in applicable Technical Trade

- Extensive experience in leading a maintenance team within Defence or RF Communications industry.
- Proven experience and knowledge in:

- Electronics, Communications and electrotechnology with applicable certifications.

- Technical Regulatory Frameworks

- Maintenance Management Systems.

- International Traffic in Arms regulations.

- Proven ability to schedule and prioritise work when presented with challenging targets to meet customer requirements.

Desirable

- Experience in RF and Satellite Communications maintenance.
- Experience in trunked radio systems.
- Prior ADF experience in Technical Maintenance.
