Lecturer in Speech Pathology

Location: Callaghan Campus, Newcastle, NSW
The position
As a Lecturer in Speech Pathology (Teaching Intensive), you will contribute to the core teaching across the Speech Pathology program and contribute to interprofessional courses within the school as required.
The role requires the provision of high-quality academic education in speech pathology aligned to the strategic goals of both the School of Health Sciences and the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing. The role is a teaching intensive role requiring 70% teaching, 20% research and 10% service.
You will be expected to develop an educational research and/or scholarship of teaching portfolio. You may be required to supervise honours and research higher degree students and deliver a high-quality learning experience for the speech pathology program.
About you
You will be experienced in student teaching and supporting student learning. You will be able to demonstrate work or teaching experience across a range of settings and subject areas.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Hold a PhD in Speech Pathology.
- Demonstrate experience which can contribute to teaching into discipline specific, Work Integrated Learning and interprofessional courses.
- Currently hold or be eligible for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Have clinical experience and expertise in speech pathology.
- Demonstrate an understanding of emerging issues within the profession and how these impact upon tertiary education and clinical practice.
- Demonstrate recent capacity for educational scholarship/research; contributing as an investigator including collaborations.
- Demonstrate recent ability to achieve high quality teaching as indicated by internal and external student surveys and demonstrated ability to improve or innovate teaching in response to feedback.
Applications from candidates with clinical and teaching experience in speech pathology with communication and/or swallowing across the lifespan, and recent/current experience with speech pathology practice education will be highly desirable.
