Technical Designer - Country Road (Accessories)

The Technical Designer (Accessories) for County Road provides sound technical guidance to designers and production teams to ensure design intent, construction, and finish are achieved across all accessories categories. Responsible for developing accurate technical packs, partnering with suppliers, and ensuring quality and compliance standards are met throughout the process. When technical issues arise, the role works cross‑functionally to troubleshoot and present practical, brand‑aligned solutions that uphold Country Road’s quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

Key Accountabilities

- Provide clear technical guidance to interpret design intent, advise on construction and materials, and ensure product consistency across categories

- Create and maintain accurate technical packs in the PLM system for all styles, or through an agreed manual process if no system is available

- Establish and maintain appropriate construction and quality standards across all categories, ensuring alignment with the brand’s quality and durability expectations

- Pre‑measure, QC check, and prepare all samples prior to fittings or reviews. Identify variances and workmanship or construction issues, and clearly communicate them during sessions

- Ensure all technical comments and construction updates are accurately captured and loaded into the PLM system after each review

- Ownership of fit, function, and performance standards across all accessories, ensuring consistent sizing, usability, and product integrity

- Assess product risk and ensure all items meet relevant regulatory, safety, and testing requirements, with particular attention to children’s accessories and performance standards

- Maintain detailed records of product specifications, testing results, and quality control measures

- Ensure materials and components align with Country Road’s sustainability and ethical sourcing standards

- Build strong communication channels with designers, production, and suppliers, fostering continuous improvement in quality, consistency, and efficiency

Key Capabilities

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Technical Design, Product Development, or a related field

- A minimum of 4–5 years’ experience in a similar technical design or product development role, ideally within accessories or leather goods

- Proven understanding of product development, materials, and construction techniques across multiple accessories categories

- Experience managing relationships with offshore suppliers and driving product consistency across regions

- High attention to detail and precision in product development, documentation, and quality assurance

- Proficient in PLM and digital tools for documentation and sample management

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical information to both creative and commercial teams

- Negotiation skills are highly regarded, supporting supplier management and product costings

- Strong technical drawing and specification skills (e.g. Adobe Illustrator or equivalent) desirable

- Awareness of emerging 3D and digital sampling technologies desirable
