About the opportunity

Join DPIRD's mission to protect Western Australia's primary industries and regions. We are seeking passionate, innovative, and dedicated individuals to help prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from biosecurity incidents within WA. DPIRD manages significant pest incursions and oversees the management of any animal, plant and aquatic pest incursions of national significance.

DPIRD’s Emergency Management team leads the Department’s capacity to protect and safeguard our primary industries and regions by preventing and mitigating the impacts of hazards, ensuring we have the capability to effectively and efficiently respond to hazards and emergency situations. Be a part of our Emergency Management response team and contribute to safeguarding WA.

Pool of positions

There are currently fixed-term, full-time positions for approximately 12 months with the possibility of extension. We are establishing a pool of the following positions to work on current and future responses. The pool will be used to fill vacancies, dependent on operational requirements:

- Level 6 – Capacity Building and Training Manager

- Level 5 – Capacity Building and Training Supervisor

- Level 4 – Capacity Building and Training Officer

- Level 3 – Capacity Building and Training Support Officer

- Level 3 – Senior Administrative Officer

- Level 3 – Public Information Officer

Employment Conditions and Eligibility

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.

Eligibility: Permanent appointments require Australian citizenship or permanent residency. Fixed term or casual appointments require proof of entitlement to live and work in Australia. A current National Police Certificate (police clearance) is required before commencing employment, at the applicant’s expense if not already held.

This pool is valid for twelve (12) months following finalisation and may be used to fill other similar vacancies with possible extension or permanency.
