Classroom Teacher - Graduate teachers and part time applicants welcome to apply
Gisborne Primary School has a current enrolment of 484 pupils with 50 staff. Situated in the picturesque country town of Gisborne, 53km from Melbourne, Gisborne Primary School has been serving its rural community for over 150 years. The school provides a stimulating and safe learning environment where students are supported in their pursuit of excellence and in the realisation of their maximum potential.
The site includes a mix of modern and historic buildings with well equipped technology areas, library, teacher resource and withdrawal areas, a gymnasium, canteen, visual arts room and adventure playgrounds. Our teachers differentiate the curriculum to meet learning needs, with quality planning, teaching and assessment practices considered a high priority. Students are encouraged to share their voice through classes and leadership opportunities; School Captains, House Captains, Arts, Community & Sustainability/Environment Leadership teams and two Class Captains lead classroom and school activities.
Specialist programs include Physical Education, STEM, Music, Visual Art and Italian (LOTE).
Teachers plan collaboratively and use data to inform teaching and monitor each child’s progress. Professional development focuses on current best practices, often through Professional Learning Communities (PLC). Gisborne Primary School is a PLC Link school supporting teachers and leaders across the state to implement PLC in their schools. The school values home/school partnership and parental involvement in student learning.
