Role

Role:

The duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:

- Prepare food, equipment and trays, tea towels, oven mitts, dishcloths for the commencement of classes
- Use and maintain equipment and facilities in accordance with school procedures and manufacturer¿s instructions
- Cleaning awa equipment and materials after use and check that they are maintained in a safe, clean and ready to use condition
- Clean stores, benches of food as soon as possible
- Support staff and students by supplying the required equipment
- Ensure work areas, materials and equipment are maintained in a clean and ready to use condition
- Undertake administrative tasks associated with the ordering of food
- Collate staff orders, check, receive and store all food on its arrival
- Follow correct hygiene and safety procedures when handling food
- Support Food Technology Teachers with any extra food preparation the school may require
- Wash and dry laundry as required
- Ensure adequate cleaning supplies are available
- Undertake daily cleaning of kitchens, dining room and prep area
- Participate in tam meetings when required

End of term and Annual duties:

- Clean and clear refrigerator and freezers as far as possible
- Check all items from cupboards and drawers for cleanliness. Clean cupboards and drawers if necessary
- Check stoves for cleanliness
- Food storerooms, clean all shelves and cupboards, sweeping and mopping floor
- Make adequate provision against dust, insects and rodents
- Conduct annual stock take and cleaning procedures

Other duties as directed by the Principal

- To support the delivery of relevant curriculum programs within the Food Technology area
- O work under the direction of Food Technology Teacher using established routines, methods and procedures
- To solve work problems by reference to established procedures and practices through liaison with supervisory staff. Refer problems of a more complex nature to appropriate personnel.
- To assist colleagues, both teaching and non-teaching in the tasks being undertaken in the Food Technology area and provide assistance to students as directed
- The Food Technology Assistant requires a broad knowledge of safe food handling, DE and associated health regulations
- Assist teaching staff with enforcement of appropriate safety procedures
- Assist students in relation to their equipment and materials needed in the classroom
- Assist with security of equipment and buildings
- Support College activities requiring the use of food and the food department resourcers
- Liaise with the Business Manager to undertake relevant staff professional development and training
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment
