Hourly Rate of Pay: $36.12 - $41.97 gross per hour (based on qualifications, skills & experience)

Employment Type: Part time (Up to 111 hours per fortnight available across two positions with individual allocation to be negotiated and approved by the principal)

O’Connor Catholic College is a co-educational high school, from Years 7-12, which began in 1975 with the amalgamation of two of Armidale’s longest established schools; St Ursula’s College and De La Salle College. Position Purpose

The primary role of the Education Assistant is to support the classroom teacher in achieving the best possible education outcomes for the students, demonstrating strong support for the vision and ministry of the Catholic school. A secondary role is to assist in other ways not directly in support of those students, which assist the class teacher in facilitating the integration process overall.

Key Responsibilities

1. Be aware of students' disabilities and develop a positive rapport with the child.
2. Help to facilitate the student’s participation in educational activities of the classroom.
3. Meet regularly with the Class Teacher to assist in planning and monitoring Individual Education Plans.
4. Be a member of the Educational Assistance Support Team.
5. Assist during excursions, camps, school outings, etc. if needed.
6. Implement programs requiring scribe, note taking, speech support, and various activities to meet the needs of the child as determined by the Support Group.
7. Undergo training to perform duties which may include occupational health and training procedures, as well as professional development on classroom support strategies and first aid.
8. Keep a daily record of program details (as per Diocesan format) monitored by the class teacher and inclusion support teacher.
9. Prepare resources as required.
10. Respect confidentiality in all matters concerning the students.
11. Provide assistance where necessary to the student in classrooms, playground, toilet, etc., according to the students’ requirements.
12. Attend to any other matters appropriate for the position and consistent with the skills of the incumbent.
