About the Directorate

The Office of Defence Industries – through Defence West – works to maximise opportunities from Defence for the defence industry in Western Australia. It is focused on growing the State’s defence industry by attracting investment, fostering defence science and innovation, creating local jobs, supporting veterans and their families, and preparing the sector to support the national defence endeavour.

About You

You are a dynamic and results-driven leader with a deep understanding of infrastructure development and its strategic importance to Western Australia’s defence capability. You bring a sharp focus to enabling investment and delivering complex initiatives that support the growth of defence infrastructure across the State.

You thrive in collaborative environments, engaging confidently with senior stakeholders across government, industry, and the community. Your ability to influence, negotiate, and align diverse interests ensures that WA remains a compelling destination for defence investment.

You lead with purpose and clarity, empowering your team to deliver high-impact outcomes. Whether guiding infrastructure projects, shaping policy, or representing the State in high-level forums, you bring credibility, insight, and a commitment to excellence.

You’re a skilled communicator, able to translate complex ideas into clear, persuasive advice and documentation. You understand the value of research, planning, and strategic foresight in driving long-term success.

Above all, you’re passionate about making a meaningful contribution — strengthening WA’s defence infrastructure, supporting sovereign capability, and helping diversify and future-proof the State’s economy.
