About us

Consolidated Pastoral Company (CPC) is a leading Australian managed, UK‑owned agribusiness with strong ESG values. CPC owns and operates a portfolio of ten station aggregations in Australia and two feedlots in Indonesia. Across more than 4.3 million hectares of land, the CPC team cares for more than 300,000 head of cattle, 50,000 goats, 25,000 sheep and produces a diverse range of crops.

About you

Key duties and tasks

- Prepare, cook and provide four healthy, nutritious and balanced meals per day (breakfast, morning tea, lunch and dinner)

- Cook for the station team of 25 to 30 people (and more from time to time)

- Maintain a strong focus on food safety standards and food handling

- Maintain a clean and structured, fully equipped kitchen

- Have menu‑planning skills (with minimal food wastage)

- Actively assist the stations’ stock camps with provisions and planning during the season when they are camping out (providing goods or cooked meals for them to take out to camp)

- Coordinate the ordering of dry stores (groceries), fruit, vegetables and maintain adequate supplies to ensure variety within budget, using seasonal produce

What you will need

- A genuine interest in working and living on a remote cattle station

- A passion for food and cooking (knife skills are also an advantage)

- Experience as a chef, cook, kitchen hand or similar

- Menu‑planning skills (for balanced nutritional meals)

- Ability to cook meals for a crew of between 8 and 40 (depending on location)

- Basic butchering skills (or willingness to learn)

Home Cooks who can cater for up to 30 people or more are welcome to apply for this role.

Physical Demands

This is a physically demanding job that includes both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature environments.

This job can be physically strenuous from time to time. You will be expected to walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push and pull various tools and equipment. You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull from 5–10 kg and occasionally more.
