The Opportunity

Becoming a Fixed and Mobile Plant (formerly Diesel Fitter) apprentice could be what you are chasing.
MIGAS is proud to be partnering with Stanmore, one of Australia’s largest suppliers of metallurgical coal with a focus on safety and sustainability.
Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship at Poitrel Coal Mine (near Moranbah) will give you the opportunity to become trade qualified and earn your MEM31419Certificate III in Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic.
You will learn the ins and outs of and develop the skills to conduct diesel mechanical maintenance and repairs to mining vehicles,equipment and machinery.
In your first year, you will work a 9-day fortnight with 12-hour shifts.
About You
- You will bring a passion for the trade and be willing to listen, learn and actively seek out new learning opportunities
- Ability to work well in a team
- You will possess a good level of language, literacy and numeracy skills
- A strong focus on safety
- Have completed Year 12with high grades in maths
- Have a strong interest in automotive work
- Completion or near completion of an automotive or engineering pre-apprenticeship will be an advantage
- Have the ability to pass a Medical (including Coal Board Medical), Drug and Alcohol test, and Police Check
- Preferablyreside in Moranbah orthe Bowen Basin region
