Please contact us if you would like to know more.* Provide optimal Occupational Therapy clinical management to all patients through the continuum of care by assessment, treatment, re-evaluation, documentation, team liaison and effective discharge planning.* Undertake a clinical caseload and provide a clinically relevant service based on evidence based practice.* Liaise with other Senior Clinician’s – Acute and Sub Acute (Fitzroy, Kew campuses) to provide relevant clinical learning opportunities for staff.* Plan and implement appropriate treatment from established goals using best practice principles and evidence based practice.* Ensure direct communication and consultation with the primary Occupational Therapist regarding patient management.* Ensure effective management of, and access to Occupational Therapy aids and equipment to maximise patient independence and safety.* Contribute to the planning and development of activities and services of the Occupational Therapy Service as appropriate.* Co-ordinate and actively participate in departmental clinical supervision program.* Actively participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Occupational Therapy inpatient service.* Staff clinical loads, annual leave, ADO’s and conference leave are effectively and efficiently managed in consultation with the occupational therapy manager.* Monitor quality improvement activities for the St George’s Hospital campus and keep occupational therapy manager updated.* Perform duties of the position to best of their ability and to a standard acceptable to SVHM* Comply with all SVHM policies, procedures, by laws and directions* Treat others with respect and always behave professionally and in accordance with the SVHM Code of Conduct* Only access confidential information held by SVHM when this is necessary for business purposes, maintaining the confidentiality of that information once accessed* Participate in the annual SVHM performance review process* Display adaptability and flexibility to meet the changing operational needs of the business* Comply with applicable Enterprise Bargaining Agreement provisions* Display a willingness to develop self and seek to improve performance* Attend clinical orientation upon commencement* Maintain clinical registration and any required indemnity cover* Always work within approved scope of practice under supervision by more senior clinical staff as appropriate.* Take personal responsibility for the quality and safety of work undertaken* Take all necessary care and precautions when undertaking clinical procedures* Complete annual clinical competencies* Maintain skills and knowledge necessary to safely and skilfully undertake clinical work* Consult with peers and other experts and refer to other healthcare workers when appropriate and in a timely manner* Collaborate and clearly communicate with patients/clients and the healthcare team* Participate in clinical risk management and continuous quality improvement activities as part of day-to-day work* Ensure consumers receive information in an appropriate and accessible format* Actively support consumers to make informed decisions about their treatment and ongoing care* Ensure consumers are aware of their rights responsibilities and how to provide feedback* A keen interest & working knowledge of acute occupational therapy assessment and intervention, and the effective occupational therapy contribution to care of the acute patient.* At least 6 years experience in the acute and or/subacute setting* Experience with supervision of staff and students* Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team* Superior written and verbal communication skills* Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement* Commitment to evidence based practice and translation of evidence to practiceSt Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) is a Catholic not-for-profit healthcare provider with a reputation for compassionate care and world-leading innovation.
