Assistant Manager Job Description

The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Service Manager to achieve our mission of earning automotive customers for life. They must learn and understand VIP culture and management processes to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the team when the Service Manager is not working, ensuring effective communication, teamwork, and operations in serving customers.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety policies, completing required training, and reporting any unsafe conditions or actions.
  • Serve customers by building relationships, consulting with them, and educating them about their vehicle's condition based on mileage and MPI inspections.
  • Achieve high success rates in customer engagement as measured by VIP Sales & Execution (SAX) scores.
Leadership and Team Management:
  • Help the Service Manager develop a superior team by ensuring associates have completed required LMS training, vendor training, and are T.I.A basic automotive service certified.
  • Effectively communicate with the team through daily huddles and bi-monthly store meetings.
  • Monitor email for customer appointments and communication, train, support, and deliver the 5 for 5 process to educate customers about their vehicle's conditions.
Facility and Equipment Maintenance:
  • Ensure satisfactory maintenance, appearance, and condition of the facility and equipment to comply with security, safety, and environmental codes.
  • Manage daily preparation and recovery of the location, service desk, and equipment.
Procedural Compliance:
  • Enforce strict compliance with the service Code of Ethics, municipal, state, and federal regulations, and procedures.
Performance Measurement:

The Assistant Manager supports the Service Manager in helping the team achieve targeted performance levels through various reports and metrics.

Standard Work Week:

The standard expectation is a 5-day workweek with 40 hours per week, with regular attendance and punctuality expected.

This role requires strong people management and leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication, sound business sense, and a comprehensive understanding of automotive servicing and the industry.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of related experience in automotive service management, a college or technical school degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
