Contract Type: Temporary / Fixed-term
Anticipated Contract Duration: Oct/Nov 2025 until June 2026 (potential for contract extension)
Hourly Rate: $65 p/h + Super
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced IT Desktop Technician to provide technical support across multiple campuses and remote locations. This role will focus on end-user computing, supporting staff and students with desktops, laptops, AV equipment, telephony, and peripherals. The successful candidate will work on-site on a rostered basis to ensure presence and support services are available to the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 technical support to staff, executives, and students on desktops, laptops, AV equipment, telephony, and peripherals.
- Escalate complex issues to Level 3 support as required.
- Offer guidance and advice for resolving hardware, software, and device issues.
- Update users regularly on incident progress via ticketing systems and promote escalation when necessary.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism.
- Deliver operational support and maintenance for end-user devices and AV systems.
- Provide training and support for AV conferencing facilities.
- Identify recurring issues and implement permanent solutions.
- Offer face-to-face support for VIP events, presentations, and conferencing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in services, processes, and systems.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant IT qualification or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting a wide range of desktop, laptop, peripheral, and mobile device issues.
- Experience with Level 2 end-user support in a multi-site environment.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and standard IT support processes.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Certifications in Microsoft, Apple, or related IT platforms.
- Experience in higher education or large organizational environments.
- Knowledge of software packaging and deployment.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Special Conditions
- Standard 8-hour day / 40-hour week.
- Minimum 5 days per week on-site, with participation in a rotating campus roster.
- Temporary contractor to provide own laptop/device.
- Mandatory organizational shutdown periods may apply (dates communicated in advance).
- Timesheets must be submitted weekly.
Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
