The Allied Health Professional – Clinical Lead is part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team within Mental Health and Statewide Services at the Department of Health Tasmania.

The Allied Health Professional – Clinical Lead is part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team within Mental Health and Statewide Services at the Department of Health Tasmania. The Role:

The Clinical Lead is a senior Allied Health Professional who plays a pivotal role in shaping clinical excellence and service delivery across Tasmania’s public health system. Operating as part of theAllied Health Service Leadership Team, the Clinical Lead provides strategic direction, mentorship, and support to clinical staff, with a strong focus oneducation, innovation, and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and support clinical education and professional development initiatives.
- Drive evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in patient care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service integration and outcomes.
- Contribute to workforce planning and capability building in line with theHealth Workforce 2040 strategy

This role is essential in ensuring that Tasmania’s health services remain responsive, sustainable, and aligned with best practices—particularly in the face of growing demand and evolving healthcare needs .

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Services Principles, National Metal Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Clinical Lead will provide high level support to the Team Leader, within the relevant community mental health service, in the provision of:

- Leadership and direction in the strategic development and management of a comprehensive multidisciplinary community mental health team.
- Effective management of specified human and physical resources.
- Leadership, direction and change management to facilitate the progression of the current Mental Health Service Strategic Plan through the implementation of the associated model of care, and relevant service policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Optimal clinical processes and individual client outcomes.
- Enhanced consumer and carer participation at all levels of the service.

You will need to:

- Actively contribute to the clinical leadership and management of a multidisciplinary community mental health team to ensure the provision of a high quality, comprehensive, specialist mental health service to a designated population group within a specified regional area in accordance with the principles and goals and objectives specified in the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, the associated model of care and relevant service policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Support the Team Leader by assuming a lead role in the oversight of designated clinical processes associated with the optimal operation of a community mental health team, including intake, crisis response, interim support, assertive case management and general team coordination.
- Undertake the line and performance management of a designated group of staff within a specified community mental health team.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:$123,717 to $134,336 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia and Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia and Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and is a full member of AASW or is eligible for membership with the AASW

Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

- Minimum of 3 years’ postgraduate clinical experience in the context of a community mental health team
