Overview
Reporting into the Field Service Supervisor, the Field Service Plant Mechanic will join our Geraldton Branch on a Full Time Basis. This role involves supporting warranty and maintenance of all Caterpillar products within the Midwest area, stretching as far West including Abrolhos Islands North, Exmouth, South to Cataby, East to Leinster and other surrounding areas.
The Geraldton branch is dedicated to providing top-tier machinery solutions and support that cater to the evolving needs of the mining industry. Our expert team is focused on delivering innovative, reliable, and efficient Caterpillar equipment to maximize productivity and ensure operational safety.
Fully Equipped Field Service Vehicle, loaded with field service kits including phones, laptops and special tooling as well as full back up from the WesTrac and Caterpillar network.

Residential Geraldton
- 9/5 - 9 days on, 5 days off (10 hours each day plus 30 mins. break)
- 12/9 - 12 days on, 9 off (10 hours each day plus 30 mins. break)
- 2/1 - 14 days on, 7 off (10 hours each day plus 30 mins. break)
- 2/2 - 14 days on, 14 off (12 hours each day plus 30 mins. break)
Responsibilities
- Support WesTrac’s customers through performing Field Service duties to a high standard.
- Working independently to manage and complete high volume tasks efficiently.
- Promote, encourage and monitor safety to a high standard whilst undertaking all tasks.
Qualifications
- Australian recognised Heavy Mobile Plant Trade Certificate.
- Extensive diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in an isolated and remote environment.
- Previous field service experience working on Caterpillar products.
- Strive to assist the Customer to achieve machine availability and reliability KPI’s.
- Minimum Light Rigid Drivers Licence required.
