Fabrication Supervisor – Structural Steel Workshop

Our client, a well-established leader in structural steel fabrication, is seeking an experienced Fabrication Supervisor to oversee daily workshop operations in Malaga. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role ideal for a trade-qualified professional with strong fabrication and team management experience.
This position is being recruited exclusively by Mills Recruitment, specialists in trades and manufacturing talent across Western Australia.

About the Role
As Fabrication Supervisor, you'll be the key driver of workshop productivity, leading a skilled crew, coordinating production, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Working closely with the Fabrication Manager, your leadership will be critical in delivering high-quality work on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct daily pre-starts and toolbox talks
- Assign tasks and manage workflow to meet deadlines
- Resolve technical issues and maintain production momentum
- Ensure high-quality output aligned with specifications
- Monitor workshop safety and lead by example
- Support team development and performance improvement
- Manage incoming materials and outgoing deliveries
- Communicate clearly with leadership and workshop staff

What We're Looking For

- Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication/Boilermaking (Cert III or higher)
- Minimum 5 years' structural steel workshop experience (with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role)
- Strong ability to read workshop drawings and manage fabrication sequencing
- Confident in welding inspection, QA documentation, and ITPs
- Sound understanding of Australian Standards and NCC requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Competent with workshop systems and digital job tracking tools
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
