Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank General Practitioner to join our Healthcare team at HMP Sudbury, a category D prison near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. This prison supports around 600 male patients, many with complex physical health and low-level mental health needs. As part of this role you will be completing referrals to hospital and external services for patients reintegrating back into the community. Ideally, applicants would also have experience supporting patients with substance misuse needs.

Hours
Monday and Tuesday 8 am–5 pm

Salary
This is a part-time role with a salary of up to £125,000 per annum FTE depending on experience

Main duties / Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality healthcare to a diverse patient group and develop knowledge beyond general practice, including potential experiences in A&E settings.
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- Act as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team, with involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications

- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications

- Disclosure and Barring Service Check – This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires submission of a check by the DBS
- UK Registration – Applicants must have current UK professional registration
