We are specifically looking for early career researchers who have a passion for research and a keen interest in translating research into clinical applications. Work with us to create real change, and we’ll help you get the best start to your academic career at one of Australia’s leading universities Working under the guidance and direction of Professor Kiarash Khosrotehrani, successful candidates will conduct vital research in skin cancer using computational tools (e.g. spatial transcriptomics) with the aim of developing novel biomarkers and therapeutics. Specifically, you will support the major project “Predicting Early-Stage Melanoma at High Risk of Recurrence through MultiOmics Profiling” which is supported by the US Department of Defense.Key responsibilities will include:* **Research:** Energetically drive research projects, assist in relevant studies and tasks assigned by supervisors, support applications for competitive research funding, publish in reputable journals and utilise best practice research methodologies.* **Supervision and Researcher Development**: Assist with the supervision of students and provide performance feedback and training to research support staff and supervisees.This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s .# **About You**The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and validation of computational tools that integrate spatial transcriptomics, algorithmic methods, and machine learning approaches to advance research in melanoma and cancer biology.* A PhD in spatial transcriptomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline, with demonstrated research experience in oncology.* An emerging research profile in multi-omics data integration and analysis, with a track record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.* A solid foundational understanding of oncology, molecular biology, and histology.* Advanced expertise in multi-omics profiling, including spatial transcriptomics, algorithmic analysis, and machine learning methodologies.* Proficiency in bioinformatics and histological analysis will be considered an advantage.* Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality manuscripts, reports, and research documentation.* Ability to work as a member of a team and high level of interpersonal and communication skills.* Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.* Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.We encourage all applications, both domestic and international.
