Overview
At OneSteel Manufacturing, we’re not just offering jobs – we’re building careers. Whether you’re an experienced tradesperson or just starting out in maintenance, this role comes with comprehensive training, supportive leadership, and the opportunity to develop skills that will set you up for long-term success.
OneSteel Manufacturing is proud to operate one of Australia’s most critical mining and steel manufacturing businesses. As the nation’s only producer of special grade billet and steel long products, we play a vital role in powering Australia’s infrastructure — from rail networks to major construction projects.
Our Whyalla-based operations are backed by State and Federal Government investment, reinforcing our position as a cornerstone of Australia’s sovereign manufacturing capability. These assets are not only essential to industrial resilience but also contribute to the long-term security and self-sufficiency of the nation’s supply chain.
At OneSteel, we don’t just manufacture steel — we help build the future of Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Step into a dynamic, hands-on role as part of a high-performing team driving Australia’s steel manufacturing industry forward. Working on 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operations running safely, smoothly, and efficiently.

- Manual and PLC Fault finding and reactive repairs to plant and equipment
- Scheduled and shut down maintenance and installation works
- Technical support to production, maintenance management and broader reliability teams
- Improving the reliability of the assets by proactively supporting CI initiatives and activities
- Accurate record keeping of scheduled and breakdown maintenance within CMMS (SAP)
Domestic Relocation included for those residing outside of Whyalla, which includes:
- Uplift of goods and relocation allowance (for individuals and immediate family)
- Travel and temporary accommodation (up to 4 weeks)
- DIDO Option Available (for Port Augusta, Quorn or Cowell residents)
About You
We’re seeking motivated individuals who are ready to contribute to high-performing teams. If you’re safety-conscious and reliable, we want to hear from you.
Ideal candidates will bring:
- A Class Electrical Licence
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent Electrical Trade
- Electrical maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing, mining or foundry is ideal
- PLC and/or SCADA experience is ideal
- SAP or similar experience would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality
- A strong commitment to safety and following procedures
- Ability to undertake a pre-employment medical & drug/alcohol assessment

We have Mental Health First Aiders on the majority of our sites available and who have the skills to recognise, connect and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.
Why work here?
We offer more than just a job; we provide a dynamic environment built on three pillars that define our commitment to both our team and our industry.
