Overview

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer this role plays an important role in providing direction and guidance to the Anaesthetic group across a range of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

- To provide clinical expertise and excellent service in anaesthesia and perioperative medicine (including in-theatre, acute pain, preadmission clinic, delivery-suite, and other clinical and non-clinical duties as determined by the director of anaesthesiology and perioperative medicine)

Department and team

The Department provides a Preadmission Clinic, Acute Pain Service and access to wide range of anaesthetic experience. The Hospital is the regional provider of health services in Gippsland and Gippsland provides a fantastic regional lifestyle with easy access to Melbourne. It has outstanding facilities including a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, large Emergency Department, endoscopy suites and modern inpatient units with extensive Allied Health amenities including a gym and pool.

Responsibilities and expectations

Reporting to the Unit Manager the successful applicant will be required to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team; apply theoretical knowledge and experience in determining the appropriate clinical diagnosis, investigations and treatment of patients; and supervise registrars/provisional trainees as appropriate, HMOs and interns in the Anaesthetics Department of the Hospital.
