Rubicon is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of our advanced irrigation and infrastructure technology. This role plays a key part in shaping new product concepts, improving existing systems and supporting the transition of designs into production. You will also play a leadership role within the Mechanical Engineering group, supporting capability development and contributing to design standards.

Job Description

Key responsibilities

- Lead mechanical system design and development across new and existing product lines.
- Researching new parts and technologies for integration into innovative design solutions.
- Generation and maintenance of CAD files.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, validation and design reviews to ensure product performance and reliability
- Prepare bills of materials, test requests and engineering reports.
- Support the introduction of new products into production, working closely with manufacturing.
- Input to support the development of users manuals and technical support documentation.
- Provide leadership and mentoring within the Mechanical Engineering team.
- Participate in field support and QA activities as required.

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills & experience:

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in a product development or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Australian drafting standards, using the CAD package (Solidworks).
- Demonstrated technical abilities applicable to Mechanical Engineering design and development.
- Proven experience managing multiple design projects and delivering to deadlines.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical activities.
