Mergent Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Pipe Layer – Leading Hand for a full-time role on a major infrastructure project in Adelaide. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to take the next step in their civil construction career by leading a team on a high-profile project with long-term potential.

Responsibilities

- Lead a team of pipe layers and labourers to deliver high-quality installations
- Read and interpret construction drawings and ensure works are carried out to spec
- Manage trenching, pipe alignment, and installation of PVC, HDPE, GRP, and concrete pipe systems
- Uphold strict safety and environmental standards on-site
- Coordinate with site management and subcontractors to ensure smooth daily operations
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to productivity reporting
- Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability

Skills and Experience

- Proven experience as a pipe layer within civil construction
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand or team leadership role
- Sound understanding of installation techniques and trenching procedures
- Ability to read and interpret site plans and specifications
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Reliable and proactive work ethic

Mandatory Requirements

- Construction White Card

Desirable (Highly Regarded)

- Confined Space and/or Working at Heights certification
- Plant operating tickets (e.g. Excavator, Roller)
