Overview

Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager to be based in Sydney. The nature of the programme is highly technical with a strong focus on quality and engineering. This role requires someone who is well versed in engineering standards including ASDEFCON / MIL-Std and ISO. The Engineering Manager will lead a cross functional team, making recommendations and overseeing the full engineering process.

This position focuses on managing a highly motivated and dynamic engineering team. The successful applicant will provide leadership to a broad demographic and guidance on all engineering issues to multiple project teams and management, championing best practices in systems engineering, design reviews, testing, and quality assurance. This is a diverse role that will encompass client management, capability management, definition and design as well as manufacture.

Responsibilities

- Lead a cross functional engineering team and oversee the full engineering process
- Champion best practices in systems engineering, design reviews, testing, and quality assurance
- Provide leadership and guidance on engineering issues to multiple project teams and management
- Manage client relationships and capability management, definition, design, and manufacture

Qualifications and Experience

- CPEng qualified Professional Engineer with tertiary qualifications and relevant experience
- Strong track record in engineering and delivery
- Demonstrated leadership in parallel tasks and outcomes
- Experience drafting and implementing engineering processes and technical documentation
- Proven experience mentoring and developing engineering talent
- Traceable history in customer relations
- 8 years of experience in SATCOM or RF engineering
- Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management role
- Experience in UHF/VHF or HF Communication technology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Eligibility for Defence security clearance
- Defence engineering background preferred; knowledge of IP networking, cybersecurity, and secure communications in a defence environment is advantageous

This position would ideally suit applicants with a Defence engineering background who are looking to take the next step into management.
