About the Role

This role is diverse and essential to patient care, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN).

Position Objectives

Equipment Reprocessing and Sterile Supplies

- Perform manual and machine cleaning of instruments, endoscopes, and trays in line with strict infection control standards.

- Conduct reprocessing of reusable devices as per GENCA and AS/NZS 5369 standards.

- Assemble, pack, and sterilise instruments, ensuring priority items are returned to the unit promptly.

- Maintain appropriate stock levels of sterile consumables, rotating stock to manage use-by dates, and reporting low levels to the Nurse Unit Manager.

Patient Care & Logistics Support

- Transport patients safely on trolleys and beds to and from procedure rooms.

- Assist with patient positioning and transferring under the supervision of RN/EN staff, strictly adhering to manual handling safety practices.

- Maintain the dignity, privacy, and comfort of patients at all times.

- Advocate for patients and families, collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve positive health outcomes.

- Maintain a clean and safe environment within the unit, strictly following infection prevention and control guidelines.

- Undertake routine cleaning of equipment, trolleys, and clinical areas.

- Handle and store food items in accordance with relevant food hygiene regulations.

About You

You will need to hold the following accreditation, skills and working rights:

- At least 12 months of experience as per perioperative standards

- Formal qualification or extensive experience in endoscopy reprocessing or sterilisation services, with strong knowledge of OH&S, manual handling, and hazard management.

- Demonstrated understanding of infection control principles and reprocessing guidelines.

- Commitment to continuous improvement, quality assurance, and availability to work across morning and afternoon shifts, Monday to Friday.

- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to high-quality customer service.

- Ability to take initiative, work self-motivated, and effectively as part of a team with minimal supervision.

- Effective time management with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Proficiency in problem-solving, analytical abilities, and effective communication (written and verbal).

- Experience in the reprocessing of reusable medical devices.

- Formal qualification in a health-related field or extensive experience in endoscopy processing or sterilisation services.

- Verification of eligibility to work in Australia.

- Identification check validation.

- Working with Children (WWC) check.
