Support and undertake soil description and fieldwork activities including classification, sampling, mapping and data entry.
About the role
As a Soils Officer you will support the High Soil Carbon Landscapes (HSCL) Project by conducting fieldwork, soil analysis and data management to help assess and improve soil carbon levels across Tasmanian landscapes.
- Coordinate field trips and liaise with farmers for site access and data-sharing agreements.
- Undertake fieldwork including site identification, soil description, sampling and characterisation.
- Enter and manage land resource data in databases and spreadsheets.
- Classify soils and process information using relevant Australian Standards.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Period of appointment
Until 30 June 2028.
Qualifications
- A degree in natural sciences or equivalent level, relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by a university.
- Eligible for Soil Science Australia Registered Soil Practitioner Accreditation.
- Workplace First Aid HLTAID009-11 Certificate or equivalent.
