Habitat for Humanity Australia (HFHA) is a Tier 3 Community Housing Provider. HFHA supports service delivery partners by providing safe and decent housing for those they support. The Housing Officer is responsible for delivering high quality tenancy and property management for Habitat for Humanity Australia.

The Housing Officer plays a critical role in delivering safe, secure, and sustainable housing solutions aligned with Habitat for Humanity Australia's mission. This role is responsible for the effective management of housing assets, tenancy relationships, stakeholder partnerships, compliance with WHS standards, and the successful delivery of new housing projects.
Functions of the role:
Property and Tenancy Management
Manage day-to-day operations of housing assets, including maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Oversee tenancy agreements, rent collection, and tenant and landlord communications.
Ensure properties meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Respond to tenant issues and coordinate support services where needed.
Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with community organisations, service providers, and local councils.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support tenant wellbeing and housing outcomes.
Represent the organisation in housing-related forums and networks.
Work Health and Safety (WHS)
Ensure all housing operations comply with WHS legislation and organisational policies.
Conduct regular risk assessments and implement safety protocols.
Provide WHS training and guidance to staff, contractors, and tenants as required.
Reporting and Evaluation
Maintain accurate records of property and tenancy activities.
Prepare regular reports on housing performance, occupancy, maintenance, and tenant satisfaction.
Contribute to program evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Project Management and Asset Delivery
Support the planning and delivery of new housing projects, including refurbishments and new builds.
Coordinate contractors, timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements.
Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with strategic goals and funding agreements.
Experience in housing/property management or tenancy services.
Strong understanding of WHS legislation and compliance.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
Proficiency in reporting, data management and evaluation.
Other Requirements
Experience working in community housing, homelessness, or social services.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and culturally safe service delivery.
The successful applicant will need to provide evidence of a clear criminal history and adhere to HFHA's Code of Conduct, policies and procedures including the Child Protection Policy.
Class C drivers licence.
A satisfactory driving history and may need to provide details of their driving history as part of the application process.
