The Opportunity
As a Project Safety Manager at RCC, you will work closely with senior levels of the business to achieve safe outcomes for all workers, the business operations and objectives, and our client.
Responsibilities
- Safety Program Leadership – Provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs.
- Manage, direct and hold accountable all RCC project personnel to ensure that objectives and targets, as set out in the Project Management plan, are monitored, achieved and/or exceeded. These include safety objectives.
- Compliance Assurance – Oversee and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards. Conduct regular reviews and audits to assess compliance levels.
- Incident Management – Oversee the investigation of safety incidents and near misses. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes.
- Risk Assessment and Management – Lead the identification and assessment of risks associated with construction projects. Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate threats.
- Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety processes and performance.
- Communication and Training – Communicate safety expectations, initiatives, and updates.
- Participate in ‘Risk Workshops’ to identify WHS opportunity and risk.
- Run project team meetings raising specific safety concerns.
- A personal commitment to implementing a safe, injury‑free construction site is fundamental to the role.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience– Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- Sector Experience– Proven experience in safety management in the construction industry.
- Skills & Expertise– Familiarity with safety management systems and their implementation. Previous involvement in safety training, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Attention to Detail– In‑depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
- Team Player– Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, project managers, and external stakeholders.
