A leading financial services provider is seeking a Senior Payment Support Officer to join their Melbourne Head Office team. This permanent, full-time position offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting self-employed Australians and small business owners through compassionate and effective mortgage collections management.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Payment Support Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing complex mortgage collections processes while providing empathetic support to customers facing financial challenges. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with both internal colleagues and external partners to ensure seamless operations.

- Minimise lending losses by proactively managing early to late stage mortgage collections across a diverse portfolio.
- Oversee accounts in arrears with diligence, ensuring delinquent loans are kept to a minimum through effective communication and negotiation.
- Identify cues of financial hardship among customers and recommend tailored solutions that balance empathy with organisational objectives.
- Manage mortgagee-in-possession loans with care and attention to detail, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Handle customer complaints professionally, including those escalated internally or via external bodies such as AFCA.

Your familiarity with relevant legislation ensures compliance throughout every stage of the collections process.

- Proven experience in managing commercial and residential mortgage loans within collections environments over several years.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities that enable you to connect with customers compassionately and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Demonstrated capacity for empathy when working with clients experiencing financial hardship or distress.
