The Organisation
Our client is a Brisbane-based practice specialising in therapy and consultancy services for children who have experienced trauma, as well as for those who care for and support them. In addition to offering counselling and clinical support to children and young people, the practice also provides training and guidance to organisations, families, and carers, equipping them to deliver evidence-based therapeutic care to some of the community's most vulnerable individuals.
The Role
We are currently recruiting for both aBehaviour Support Practitionerand aSenior Behaviour Support Practitioner. These are permanent full-time roles, though part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. The positions offer flexible, remote working, with regular travel to clients across the Brisbane region and occasional attendance at our client's South Brisbane office. Standard hours are worked during business hours, with some occasional (but rare) after-hours support required when requested by clients.
The Behaviour Support Practitioner will work to support NDIS participants to reduce harmful or persistent behaviours using person-centred, evidence-based, and least-restrictive approaches that enhance quality of life. Our client has a focus on integrating trauma informed frameworks into their practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive behavioural assessments using a range of clinical tools to understand participant needs, history, and support environments.
- Develop and implement evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies that prioritise safety, therapeutic care, and skill development.
- Deliver tailored training to participants and support networks, promoting practical, compassionate responses to behaviours of concern.
- Monitor and review behaviour support plans to ensure ongoing effectiveness, reduce restrictive practices, and enhance participant quality of life.
- Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner –Provide leadership and clinical guidance to Behaviour Support Practitioners and support the review of organisational PBS policies and procedures.
To Be Successful
- A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or other field related to Human Services or Behavioural Sciences. (This is mandatory for all consultant therapists providing Specialist Behaviour Support offered through the NDIS).
- Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience, including therapeutic work with clients with complex needs and a strong knowledge of NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements for behaviour support.
- Registration with the commission as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
- A current Queensland Driver's License and safe/reliable vehicle
- A current Blue and Yellow Card
Salary and Benefits
- $90,000 – $115,000 PA + 11.5% Super, dependent on experience.
