You will be at the forefront of technical excellence, collaborating closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable software solutions that drive business success. The organisation values flexibility, inclusivity, and professional growth, providing an environment where your expertise will be recognised and nurtured. If you are passionate about leveraging your technical leadership in a supportive and knowledgeable team, this is the perfect opportunity to further your career.

Responsibilities

- Join a respected Investments Technology team in Sydney on an initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension, offering you stability and room for professional growth.

- Take ownership of leading small development teams to enhance and modernise critical internal applications, directly impacting the success of the Investments business.

- Enjoy a collaborative and inclusive work culture that prioritises flexible working opportunities, ongoing training, and supportive leadership to help you thrive.

What you’ll do

As a Lead Applications Developer based in Sydney, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of internally developed applications that underpin the Investments business. Your day-to-day activities will involve guiding small development teams through complex projects while ensuring technical excellence at every stage. You will engage regularly with stakeholders from various departments to understand their needs and translate them into high-quality software solutions tailored for the Financial Services industry. By fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous learning, you will help drive innovation while maintaining rigorous standards for security and compliance. Your ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently will be crucial as you oversee project deliverables from conception through deployment. This position offers you the chance to make meaningful contributions while developing your own skills alongside knowledgeable colleagues who value teamwork and shared success.

- Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust applications with a primary focus on utilising the MEAN stack to meet evolving business needs.

- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

- Drive best practices in software development by conducting thorough code reviews, implementing comprehensive testing protocols, and maintaining efficient CI/CD pipelines.

- Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and high performance within the development team by sharing knowledge and encouraging continuous improvement.

- Manage project timelines and deliverables effectively to ensure quality and timely delivery of software solutions that support key business functions.

- Apply deep domain knowledge of Financial Services, especially within Investments, to develop applications that adhere to regulatory, security, and industry standards.

- Proactively identify technical risks throughout the project lifecycle and propose effective mitigation strategies to safeguard project outcomes.

- Work collaboratively with internal teams such as Investments Technology, Analytics, Solution Architecture, Infrastructure, Operations, and Business Services to achieve seamless solution delivery.

- Utilise data analysis skills to inform application enhancements and ensure optimal performance across all platforms.

- Support containerised application deployment processes using tools like Github to streamline development workflows.

What you bring

To excel as a Lead Applications Developer in this role, your background should reflect substantial experience in both technical leadership and hands-on development within Financial Services settings. You bring advanced skills across multiple technology stacks—including MEAN—and have consistently delivered high-quality solutions through collaborative teamwork. Your interpersonal abilities allow you to connect meaningfully with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds while maintaining sensitivity towards their unique requirements. A keen eye for detail combined with strong organisational skills ensures that every aspect of your work meets rigorous standards for quality and compliance. By drawing upon your deep industry knowledge—especially within Investments—you are able not only to solve immediate problems but also anticipate future challenges before they arise.

- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field provides you with a solid foundation for understanding complex technical concepts required for this role.

- Over ten years of proven expertise in application development ensures you can handle senior-level responsibilities with confidence.

- Extensive experience working within Financial Services environments preferably focused on Investments.

- Advanced proficiency in both front-end and back-end application development allows you to create comprehensive solutions that meet diverse user needs.

- Deep understanding of the MEAN stack equips you to lead projects involving modern web technologies seamlessly.

- Strong familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment frameworks ensures efficient software delivery cycles.

- Expertise in Microsoft SQL enables robust data management across all platforms involved in solution delivery.
